Some of my family members secretly dislike and talk about each other behind their backs. My parents sometimes complain about my distant relatives. I am only close with my immediate family.

Yep. My mom, sister, and I can't stand my dad's sister, her son, and my dad's mom. In fact, my dad's mom is living with us now and you can figuratively cut the tension in the air with a butter knife.
The same as friends, some do not get along with each other. Some do. Very normal.
My brother & I detested each other for 25 years but circumstance focuses the mind on what really matters. My nuclear family have our moments but we get on 99% of the time . I couldn't give a rats arse about my distant relatives.
Of course it's normal. Not all families are like the traditional-functioning ones like on Full House and such. Don't worry.
