Is it normal to have so much anxiety when changing careers?

I am changing careers from Electrical Construction to direct sales. I have to learn, understand and be confident in my answers about the product. I must also learn a whole presentation. But, I get filled with anxiety when I give the presentation an suddenly forget what comes next in the sequence of the Demo. Sometimes, I leave parts out That are crucial to the sale or that build value. Our Business is referral based, and I must have the customer sold enough even if they don't buy anything, in order to get the Referrals from them. I must master this! I need help!! Any suggestions would be appreciated so much! Thanks everyone and Happy New Year!

It sounds like you are putting a lot of pressure on yourself and rather than be in the moment at times, you are too concentrated on making sure you don't mess up that your brain loses focus on what you are trying to present. You might find yourself mid-sentence a lot? I might suggest just practicing the demo over and over again in front of a mirror or someone else, until you get to a very comfortable level. Maybe even have flash cards, in a sense, study your material. Go over it before you go to bed, when you have extra time. Always take breaks though, you don't want to cram. I found it best to study things by studying, then taking a bath, then studying, and then going some place to eat, etc. That way you have such confidence that your anxiety is lower or not there.

You are so right on. I do Catch myself mid sentence locked up. My son sold time shares before and he said not to be a salesman. But rather earn their friendship and trust first. Then sale the benefits and points to them. To have fun, and make friends. I know all of the great things that the product does. I own one myself. However, I did feel an enormous amount of pressure to present the text I was given verbatim to the customer. Therein lay the croix of the problem. If they asked a question, made a commemnt ect.. I relaxed alot after my son and I chatted. It seems that I was lacking a personal connection with my clients too. So I'm going to use all these new points today durring a demo in Spanish! Lol!
