Is it normal to have sex with people in same room?

I met this woman on-line that lived a couple of hours away. She was coming to town to visit a college that her daughter was going to be attending. Well, we met up and the three of us spent the day together sightseeing, some shopping, going out to eat and hanging out in her hotel room watching movies. Her daughter was in one bed and had fallen asleep. I was about to suggest leaving and gave her a kiss goodby. Well one thing led to another and got pretty hot and I fealt really uncomfortable with the situation but she was very persistant in continuing. is it normal for someone to have sex with someome else especially a relative in the same room?
