      Thank you for your comments. There's only 2 of us in the family. We are both in our 40s. She is still single and my wife died 7 years ago. I have 2 sons but both have their own families. Do you think there would still be damage in the family if we keep it discreetly?         Yes, there will absolutely still be damage, and consequences, no matter how you rationalize it. I don't really give advice, but m opinion is that you 2 have become co-dependent, which is never healthy. Instead, of feeding it, take the initiative and invite her to join a hobby club. Square dancing, aerobics, books, anywhere that you can each meet someone. Hope this helps.
