Is it normal to have regrets already?

I'm 19 and have some trivial regrets already, for example- I really wished I had started playing a sport when I was a kid that I could have became professional at to this day. For example I used to see kids from my class pursuing their sporty passion like hockey or surfing and I kind of envied them. is it normal to be very sad that I haven't pursued anything as in sports since I do like sports but don't have the money or time as well :(?

I know what you're saying. I'm 25 and definately have some, but I try to focus on the positive and what I have achieved. You could drive yourself to misery if you focus on your regrets. It's frustrating, I know, but remember that none of us can do it all in life. I'm accepting that. Sometimes I get upset that I'm closer to 30 than I am to 20 and I haven't achieved what I thought I could. But then I make an effort to think of all the good things and how lucky I am in some ways. It can be tough but you're 19 and time is on your side. Don't put too much pressure on yourself either!

It's normal. The earliest "big regret" I had was on my 16th.
I had been working very much to earn some bucks since my 13th.
But at the age of 16 I realized that money is useless if you don't have the time to enjoy it. So... I kind of wasted those years to working, leading to "social isolation", since I lost my friends back then...
It was a depressing moment when I realized that I've been a dumb teenager with an obsession for earning money.

if you still have them when the numbers in your age are reversed, (91) then that will be a damn shame.

So good to see you came back. You've left a few times now and each time it's a bummer.

Thanks that's a very nice thing to say :) I couldn't stay away, I definitely needed a break though. If you're here long enough you see the same stories and trolling coming up all the time and its hard not to let sarcasm creep into your comments. For some reason my old account was blocked, so I'm back with the same username but with an underscore in it haha

I don't recognize your username, are you an older user with a new account?

Yes, I am. I'm only visiting for a small while and wanted to keep some anonymity while I'm here. My old account is still active, I'm not sure I'll ever use it again, though.

You do make your fair share of thoughtful and insightful comments. I look forward to reading them when I open up an IIN post to read. Also, you have an artistic creative mind, which I have a lot of respect for. I'm glad you're here. As frustrating as it is at times, it's good for some of the kids here to interact with a compassionate person like you. You set a good example for them about how to roll with the punches life throws with an abundance of grace.

I always wanted to be a professional diver, swimmer or gymnist. But I didn't have the absolute drive, willing to move to somewhere that I could do it, nor the money or support. So instead I'm 40 years old and laying in bed with a blown out hamstring from being in a "drag queen race" in Hawaii. Once back to normal I want to be the most flexible guy around. So don't give up. Play adult amateur sports and make new friends. I wish I was your age, but I would like to have my experience.

Who doesn't have regrets? Just because you're young doesn't mean you have to have had a perfect life. You're still young enough to change some of that if you want to, though.

Start running, aside from a good pair of running shoes you don't need to get a lot of equipment.

    Sure, that's normal.
I wish I had learned some instruments.

  • It's never too late to start something new. Don't let your regrets hold you back from anything else. **Blows jumbo load while thinking about butt sluts**
