Is it normal to have recurring dreams that go on for years?

I have dreams that have been recurring for years and years. One of them, about being back in high school, I have had for almost 30 years. Wondering if anyone else has this experience and is it normal?

Dude! your dreams are the language of your subconcious, let me give you an example I worked at a bank for really long then left for a couple of years and then got a job interview there again, the night before the interview I had a dream about me doing some easy test at my uncles house across the street of my own where I used to be very often but didnt like. My subconcious was telling me that the interview would be easy for me but I didnt really want to do it.
So I guess your subconcious has been worried about the same thing for 30 years and is trying to talk to you about but you just dont get it.

yeah i used to have the same dream since i was a kid. i would be walking down the street and see a guy sitting in a dark car just parked on the side of the road.. he had dark hair and a goatee. we never spoke. then when i met my husband i stopped having that dream. he looks the same as the guy in my dream and had the same car.

i am curious though what your dreams are...

Yes, I always have a dream where me and this team have to defeat this clown who kills two people at a time by making one happy and the other sad. Its so realistic, and on nights where I dont have this dream the next night the team said something was "interfering with the signal" and they couldnt reach me. I used to think it was real, Ive had it since I was 9.

I am not exactly an expert on this subject but I guess it is normal. If i have to decide whether it is normal pr npt based on my own experience with dreams i would say it is not. Because i am not normal and I do get recurrent dreams. They are the ones i rember more clearly. But they are not always identical. Some parts are missing and some new ones are added at each round. So the theme is fundamentally the same but the dream differs slightly from the last time I went there. Most of the time I do not dream tho. It is more like turning off. Everything simply goes black,as if I am in a completely dark room. Then i wake up and have no idea if i dreamt or what i have been dreaming. No clues at all. Sometimes i dream about people who are about to get in contact with me before the contact happens. I stumble into them and go: i knew I was gonna stumble into you today. I dreamt it. And one time I had this very vivid dream in which all the past and future events of my life unfolded before my third eye in a series of flashes, like pictures of significant moments. It was quite disturbing.

Very norm. I have this nightmare of an actual hallucination I had. I am walking down a dark hall and I'm like 6 and I see a dark skeletal hand just in the air and before he drops a grenade, I hear a squeak. Then the world explodes. Any time I hear a squeak I see it again and I sometimes relive it in my sleep.

So normal. I've had several that involve high school. One is that I forgot my locker combination and the bell rings and I'm late. Another is that I start out barefoot walking through the hallway then I end up in a classroom naked and covering my nakedness behind a book. Very terrifying! lol
