Is it normal to have random pains in my sides?

Ever since I was 11-12 or so, i've been having random, but extremely painful sharp stabbing pains in my sides(on the outside of the hip area). It only seems to happen every few months, and its been 8 or so months since it last happened. Im worried it could be my kidneys or something like that though, although im not sure why it would hurt in such wide intervals. I've talked to my doctor about it, they dismissed it like I made it up. Could it be kidney stones?

maybe you have side aches. Which are caused by shallow breaths. Try breathing deeper to see if that works.

If it was your kidneys you would feel it through your lower back, it's weird but one time I went to the ER for extreme arthritis pains and found out there I had a UTI which of course could potentially lead to kidney stones and they kept pressuring my lower back and asking me if I had any pain-I suggest that the next time you're having these pains rush to the ER they will try to figure shit out trust me general doctors brush these things off like if they can't prove anything the pain isn't there-.-assholes I lived with untreated Arthritis for two years limping through school not knowing wtf was wrong and still have my parents and doctors saying that it's nothing and to stop lying total BS be persistent!

Yeah Definitly not. I would ice It for a while and talk to your doctor. If you notice any bleeding in the... Well the toilet, it would be dark discolouration, then there is a sign of internal bleeding. If so, I would recommend seeing your doctor for xrays. I've had stomach surgery before from gluten intolerance and it was a similar sign. I just didn't want to say that off the bat.

How old are you? Not trying to be creepy just asking because it could be growing pains?
