Is it normal to have pimples in tattoo?

I got my tattoo about 5 months ago it wasn't at a shop my friend did it for me he does tattoos it was at his house he uses clean needles and everything but my tattoo gets a lot of pimples in it they go away after a while but usually come back is this normal or could it be the ink that was used? Maybe sun exposure? It healed ok no problems so that can't be it. So does this happen to anyone else is it normal?

    I don't know, but what I do know is that you're supposed to take care of the skin pretty well for a while after you get your tattoo. There are even special lotions for tattooed skin.

      ^This and... maybe in tattoo years it's already going through puberty?

    These instances might help-
    I have dry skin all over my body I don't really get pimples or stuff but when I got my tattoo done, (the first one at the wrist) I was religiously applying baby oil to it as my tattoo artist told me to and I started getting tiny bumps on it which is weird. My brother on the other side did the same and his tattoo was fine as ever. Then I discovered that baby oil is basically mineral oil and it clogs my pores I'm like sort of allergic to it I would say. I stopped applying baby oil and those bumps disappeared. When I got another tattoo I didn't apply any of it and it was fine, no bumps.
    Also, if you have a pimple don't stress it because my sister had like an infection all over her tattoo because she's allergic to a particular brand of disinfectant that they used while cleaning the blood in the process of making the tattoo. Whenever that paricular disinfectant comes in contact with an open wound of her, she develops that infection and believe me it's nastier than a pimple. When the infection was over her tattoo was totally fine. She's still rocking it, it's good as ever.

    I get them in mine too, It would be there with or without the tattoo.

    I have had pimples in my tattoos, try not to squeeze them, as it can either scar making the work look faded, or it can push the ink out leaving white/lighter patches depending on your skin colour.
