Is it normal to have pain while having my belly pierced for 2 weeks?

I Got my belly button pierced for my 18th birthday on July 1st. The first few days wasn't that bad, but now after almost 2 weeks has gone by, it is extremely painful. I have puss when i turn it, some crust, &just extreme pain. I'm really hoping that's normal, because i clean it twice a day with solution i was told to use. Is this normal? or does it sound infected?

Keep in mind that the navel is how we first ingested food. No matter what age we are, the belly button CAN absorb dirt and bacteria as well as coated metal or plated items.

I've had mine for a couple months now and it still gets crusty and bleeds from time to time. Just continue to clean it and it will probably hurt for about a year. I also put an antibiotic cream with a qtip next to the holes and that seems to help

    Try salt water on it.

Use wound wash saline you can get it at walgreens that is definitly infected. Don't touch it unless your damn sure your hands are clean and DO NOT change out the ring for at least another two weeks and only then if it's feeling better and healed. Mine hurt some after 2 weeks but not very much and you still get a little belly button juice but not puss

My belly button was sore for about a year after I pierced it. Sometimes it was okay, and then other days it was so red, swolen, pussy, crusty, etc. I took good care of it too - washed it, cleaned it, did everything I was supposed to do. I guess it just took me longer to heel. Hopefully your's won't take that long! It's been almost 2 years for me, and occasionally it still hurts. But it looks cool! lol :) Good luck with your's.

It sounds infected. You should be wearing clothes that don't cover it (pants wise) and washing with an antibacterial soap in the shower, turning it and rinsing well. Also you may want to switch to bactine for cleaning. It says not to use on puncture wounds but believe me (I have 22 piercings) I never use the "solution" they sell to you in a parlor. Also if it's painful use betadine (very little) ointment with pain reliever and rotate it through your hole. Crusties are normal and depending on how deeo it goes it can take up to a couple of months to fully heal. Take good care of it, and if you notice it getting worse go to a doctor! Good LucK!

    ~Peace~
