Is it normal to have pain in right side from hiatal hernia?

I was diagnosed with a Hiatal Hernia. I've been in alot of pain on the inside. I've lost alot of weight. Blood work is normal though. Main thing is the pain in the right side. Is anyone familiar with a Hiatal Hernia and is this one of the many symptoms from it? It feels like a sharp stabbing knife pain in my liver area or middle of my right side like when you are running and running then get that pain.

    I agree with Neuro. I know it's normal to have pain from a hernia, but I don't know what type of hernia you have.

    So are you saying what you have is not being caused by this? If you believe this is an adverse side effect of whatever medication/treatment you are getting alert the doctor. If you believe this is because of what you have and you are just in pain I would say see if doctor can give you some pain meds or take over the counter ones. If you believe this is unrelated see a doctor. They have sites that have a symptom checker that you could try. I used it to figure out what was wrong with my teeth before. I think its called WebMD. I have limited medical knowledge though so I think someone with more knowledge in this field would be able to help you.

    Hello and thank you all. That is awesome of you to give your input. I really appreciate it. Ok, yep just got in. Coopert it is a Hiatal Hernia. Yeah just read some other peeps who had em say they had like heart attack like pain, hmm some with the same thing pain in sides. Doc said it could be an ulcer or a gallbladder thing. He wants an ultrasound to figure it all out. Bloodwork is good. Thank you all....and big guy thanks man but what is a tress?
