Is it normal to have out of body experiences?

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them before and how often;every now and then, tired or not, or even in the middle of doing something, i'll have this strange sensation that my 'soul' or consciousness or something was pulled from my body for a few seconds, and its like im viewing myself from the outside, and I have this odd sensation of unity, its very very hard to explain. And then once I come to, I feel normal again. Is this what it feels like to lose consciousness for a split second or something?
This has happened at least a dozen times in my life, the last time this occured was about a year and a half ago and im only 18. So im curious, has this happened to anyone else before?

I haven't but my mom meditates a lot and I know a lot of people who also meditate and they all have those experiences. So it's normal.

This happens quite often with me. However, I never counted it as an out-of-body experience. There is one experience I suspect might have been out-of-body; I've even written a story on it: "Is it Normal to Enter a Transcendental Trance?" You might be able to compare this experience with yours.

This happened to me loads of times when I was a teen. Not so much anymore though. Too bad, I kinda miss it.

i don't know if it's normal or not but this used to happen to me frequently but stopped around age 18. im 21 now.

it mostly happened when i would look at myself in the mirror.if i would stare long enough and start analyzing my reflection,,,( "this is MY face" MY name is ____ " "this is what I look like" ) i would trip myself out i guess and would disassociate from my reflection and have the out of body like experience. it was like i didn't know who i was or where i was. i didn't know anything and i wasn't me. it was my mind but it wasnt connected to my life....hard to explain. i would even sometimes purposefully stare at myself in the mirror and force this experience to occur. once it happened while eating at a restaurant outside with my uncle and aunt. thats the only time it happened while being with other people and while doing something other than staring blankly at my reflection.

i never thought of it as my soul...always consciousness...but i like the idea of it being my soul better. i like the idea of my soul living on...and this body just being a shell and this life a period of learning.

kind of wish i could experience this again. dont know why it stopped but im a very spiritual person and i feel like its a good thing! maybe not normal though but at least one other person has had the same experience (me!) ;)

Who's that guy? oh! It's me!
But if he is me then who am I?

Not even an electron can be in two different places at once, what makes you think you are different from it?
