Is it normal to have nightmares when under alot of stress?

I've had these nightmares for about a week now, and they're so vivid that they wake me up in the middle of the night or in the early morning. Is this normal or abnormal?

Perfectly normal if you are stressed. The only thing you have to worry about is "what" it is, that is making you stressed enough to have nightmares.

I've been dealing w/alot of health issues lately, and my sister died of cancer over the summer, so these things could be possible culprits. Thx 4 replying.

Very sorry to hear about your sister. That's a hard event to deal with, hope things improve somewhat for you in the future.

Sorry to hear that, It isn't fair. I get nightmares often early in the morning too, they are not fun but I really don't know what can be done about them.

It's not necessarily stress, you dream about things that are on your mind and on your subconscious. If you are stressing over certain things, there's a good chance your dreams are going to reflect it.

My obsessive compulsive sister and I had a physical altercation on Sunday evening and I've had weird, stupid nightmares for the past two nights! :-(

I think it is. I asked my housemate and he also thinks its normal. So this comment actually consists of two yes votes

Of course it is completely normal. It happens to me too. Try to balance the stressing things and non-stressing things. I know is not easy, but make your best effort to make it. Then you'll see you'll sleep better.
