We just moved to a new neighborhood about a month ago, and had just got settled in, when yesterday the cops showed up at our house saying the neighbor called and said there was a child crying on our porch. My two year old had been playing out there with his older brothers earlier, and anyone with kids knows they cry at everything.

So is this normal? We have never met our neighbors, they have never met us. Why would they call the police? I'm ready to move again. Who knows what might have them calling next!!

(One other note, the houses in this neighborhood are quite far apart, with lots of trees. We can't even see the other houses in our area.)

    You could always leave a pile of dog shit in their mailbox. That would be the most awkward police call ever.

    How creepy.... The setting reminds me of the original "Halloween"... But, I digress.

    I would join the neighborhood watch or civic association if I were you. Join the PTA and participate in community bake sales and what not. Join the community church and ask one of your neighbors to babysit for you. If the police are called again, you could say: "How dare you! I am the Bladdy Blah Council Member of Blah-zay-wee and I give to the Policeman's Ball! I am getting tired of these prank calls to Law Enforcement!"

    Clearly, you are an "Unknown" to your neighbors. However, once they get to know you, I am sure that they will stop being dicks.

    Maybe your neighbours were concerned for the well being of your child. Why don't you approach them and ask them?

    They sound creepy. My neighbor went on a killing spree so you can't always get good neighbors.

    That's pretty creepy. We have nosey neighbors where I live and they love to call enforcement on little things like that too. I just pay no attention and carry on like normal. I'm sure the police realized that it was a bogus call.
