Is it normal to have memories of the distance past in dreams?

Is it normal to have memories of the distance past in dreams. Memories which never existed in real life. It's like the memories were created for the dream. They're always in context with the weird dream so I know they aren't real.

They're always forgotten with the dream a few hours after waking up unless I write it down.

Do other people have fictional memories in dreams with a sence of time that they happened months ago or even years?

The mind is always functioning. When things are bothering us and we have not figured out the problem we often dream about it. However, when we dream we act it out like a play back in a movie. Sometimes we figure out the answer in our dreams and when we wake up we all of a sudden feel better and even realize the solution. That is usually when we say it is like a light came on. Sometimes years can go by and all of a sudden you wake up thinking about it with an answer to the problem and you wonder where it came from. They say we actually were thinking about it for years. Not only that, but the mind actually is working on so many things at once and we don't even realize it. Sort of like a computer running several programs behind each other.

Yeah. Although my dreams tend to be futuristic.

I believe that one's brain is far more efficient when sleeping as it does not control as many bodily functions and can dedicate more processing power to your thoughts, so I often try to design and build things in my dreams, but SOMEONE ALWAYS ENDS UP WAKING ME before I finish and then I can't remember it in detail.

  • Yes, I believe that is normal. Most of my dreams are like that and my dreams are nothing special or unique.
