Is it normal to have intense recurring nightmares?

I keep having hideously scary nightmares that feel very, very real. It gets to the point where I wake up in the morning and don't know whether I'm awake or dreaming. I'll wake up in the mornings sweating, and I've woken myself up screaming a few times. It's terrifying, and it happens at the very least 3 times in a week (up to every day in a week). Is this normal, and if not, why is it happening? Has anybody else had anything like this happen to them before? Is something wrong with me?

    • I know, I don't think people realise how realistic it feels.

Did you go through a recent trauma? See a scary movie, etc?

If they continue, I'd see your doctor.

I personally have ptsd. And I used to have terrible nightmares about curtin things from my past. I didnt want to sleep just from the sheer terror of it happening again. I would wake up and have a instent panic attack and cry. And that went on for months. I dont get them that often anymore but it's still scary. What your experiencing is completely normel. You just have to remember it's just a dream thow hun.

  • I'm on anxiety meds, but nothing hallucinogenic if that's what you were wondering.
