What do you guys think of a person, which has inappropriately high standards (like wanting a lot from a potential partner without having anything significant to offer) and therefore desides to stay alone forever - because she/he can't and doesn't want to lower said standards. Is this person normal? Does the gender of this person matter? Thank you in advance ;-)
A lot of people do that in order to avoid relationships and the potential of getting hurt, not because they think they deserve the best.
Some people delude themselves into thinking that settling with someone who is less than perfect is the same as settling for less than they deserve. I'd say both genders do it pretty well, I know men that won't settle for anything less than a girl who looks like she's stepped out of a magazine and women who think they deserve Brad Pitt when they ain't no Angelina Jolie.
I chock it up to fear. It's one thing to not want to settle for T Diggy the dip shit gangster but when someone comes along that is great for you, those standards are about as good as building a wall between yourself and every potential mate you find. Just goes to show you what happens when you let Hollywood decide what romance and relationships are for you.
Everyone has their definition of beautiful. What I call attractive, my friend might call ugly. Anybody who chooses to be alone instead of lowering their standards is missing out on many opportunities. But sadly it is normal to do this. I don't think the gender of the person matters nor can I say which gender is more shallow.
This may sound cheesy, and I got this from the movie "She's out of my League," but when you're in love then you're dating a 10.
I'd think that person is afraid of people, sex, or life.
One or all of those things, but that's kind of obvious isn't it? Everyone knows dumbasses like this.
Hmm, maybe I'm on this situation, I only want to talk with intelligent people. Maybe I should reconsider this but it's hard.
