Is it normal to have had a lot of relationships yet only one date?

I know this might sound weird but I never have been on a real date except once. My father dad did not like us me or any of my siblings bringing home people of the opposite sex. If it was a girl and a boy was bringing it that was a no and same for girls. Most of my relationships are flings and never last through a single holiday. That or we would just make out for fun and not talk about it anymore after the fact. Like a lot of kids I would hook up in school. So I do not actually know how to handle myself when not at school.

  • I've had girlfriends but never a "date".

    I thought "going on a date" was just made up bullshit to make it look like people don't just fuck each other straight away.

    For me it's always been;

    step 1, meet girl

    step 2, fuck girl

    step 3, you're going out cause she didn't leave

    Had boyfriends but have never been to a movie? Dinner? Theatre? Dance? Concert? Picnic? Party? Etc? What kind of boring boyfriends/relationships do you have?

        To me that is kind of shocking. To never go out together and do things as a couple. No disrespect if you are OK with that, but someone who didn't want dates - whether earlier on or when old and married - would be a non-starter for me.

        • I did have a few dates and they did not work out so well. However when I just date them they stay longer. Odd really but I guess it works. I never been to a concert. Never had that kind of money. Those things are expensive.

    I've never been in a relationship or on a date. I remember my silly child self pretending to be in relationships like saying that a grown male camp consular was "my man" and saying that this older boy I liked was "my boyfriend". What on earth was I thinking? I remember being about 13 or 12 and going to summer camp. My friend at the time asked me about boys and if I liked anyone. When I told her that I didn't date and that the reason was because my family wouldn't let me, she was shocked. When I got home I asked my mother why I wasn't allowed to date. I can't remember the exact flow of the conversation, but she told I could when I was about 15. When I was around that age, I asked why I still wasn't allowed to date and she replied that it didn't matter because I didn't know anyone.

    I'm sure I was upset and now that I'm older, I don't really care anymore. By not dating, it keeps my personal life and interests to myself and away from my family. Besides, I rarely if ever get crushes on people. I don't know if what your father did was normal, it sounds a little overprotective to me. Did he stop his rules when you and your siblings got to be of a certain age?

    • Till we both left and I left 18. I have been in relationships. Just have not been on a date. Also I never said I did not have relationships. I just did not go on dates. Age for dating was 15. We still were not allowed let opposite sex friends in the house.
