Is it normal to have friends with benefits when your dating somebody?

I haven't done this before but a friend of mine has, is it normal?

    If the partner doesn't know? it's cheating, not FwB. If they do know and it's an open relationship then yes I guess, normal enough.

    As long as the other person knows about it, it's alright. Having an open relationship works for some people although most of the time it leads to breaking up... I guess you have to really make sure that it's what you want and that everyone is in on the situation.

    Now, if the boyfriend/girlfriend doesn't know about the Friend with benefits, that's cheating and it's fucked up.

    I agree with quentari. If she doesn't know, it's unfair. She has a right to know the status of your relationship. If she doesn't accept, then man up, and make your choice.
