Is it normal to have friends that act as if they were your parents?

I am not saying this in a bad way. Most of the time these friends' attitude is positive. They might nag every now and then, but they also help you a lot when you need it or give you some tough advice.

I just find it surprising how in a group of people the of the same age, sometimes someone decides to take the "parental" role in some way.

So, is it normal?

Those are friends to keep around as long as possible. They have your best interest in mind and want to see you happy.

I had a friend like that. Use to act like everyone's mom. I really liked her. She was so nice to everyone. I myself seem to be the sense of reason among all my friends well people in general. I am also the first person to say "Lets not do this" when everyone plans on doing something really stupid. People always assume I have the solution to fix every problem and often want advice.
