Is it normal to have brown skin in areas?

I am 24, and for as long as I can remember I had brown skin on areas of my body. I consider my skin to be Caucasian and my problem areas are my knees, armpits, and my inner thighs and butt-crack. They are all so dark!! I take great care of myself and have tried to slough off the skin through scrubbing, shaving and exfoliating but without no results. It's so terrible to say but it looks dirty and my armpits always seem dark with hair even though their not!!! I just don't understand why my thighs and crack are so dark. It really embarrasses me because when I wear a swimsuit or a sleeveless shirt or tank top, shorts or skirt or when I am intimate it bothers me. It's a daily bothersome thing I hate. Is it normal. Even a little normal? What the hell can/should I do?!?!?!

That's no good. Maybe you have some other culture in your genes.

Ho I have that too! Well it's not normal, I haven't seen anyone else with it and I don't know how to get rid of it... erm if you find out, let us know? haha

I'm a dancer, so it's really embarrassing and horrible when I'm at the beach.

It is normal, some people have darker pigment in these areas than others

  • It's totally normal, don't worry about it. Eat a diet where your carbohydrates are always coming from complex sources or fruits/veggies, and drink lots of water. You can bleach, or have it bleached. Margaret Cho (a famous American comedian) had her butthole bleached on her TV show because she thought it looked too dark. Porn stars bleach their junk all the time because it looks "youthful". If you're not comfortable with all this (or even if you are), you should see a dermatologist.

sounds like they're just birth marks, i got a few completely normal. as long as theyre not multi colored they should be benign. depending on the size of them surgically removing them may cause some nice scars unless you can afford a pretty good plastic surgeon. i did just have one removed in june though.
