This is probably a consequence of over-productive sebaceous glands (the glands that produce oil - or sebum - from pores in the skin). This is the usual cause of acne and/or blackheads, and typically affects people between the ages of 13 and 25.

I'd suggest trying some acne treatments out on the affected area (even if you only have blackheads and no spots). There are a variety, including topical creams, drugs and light-therapy. You could also ask a doctor what they recommend :)

    Maybe they're just hair holes...?

Blackheads are associated with poor hygiene. Just wash your breasts more and stop squeezing them and they should go away.

"Contrary to the common belief that blackheads are caused by poor hygiene, they are in fact caused by excess oils that have accumulated in the sebaceous gland's duct"

Don't always believe what you hear. Whilst having poor hygiene could exacerbate the problem, it isn't the cause of the problem.

        She said associated not "caused".

Why was that comment downgraded? There was nothing outrageous or blatantly malicious about it.

I assumed Avant-Garde said associated implying caused by, hence the recommendation afterwards of washing more. Either way, it's good to debunk a myth.

I don't know why it's been thumbed down, but sometimes people thumb down comments they don't agree with.

Its probably from your sweat. No matter how clean you are we all have oil in our skin. Sweat can make stuff like acne much worse no matter how clean you are. They have stuff for this kind of thing though called "Proactive". I get really horrible acne on my back, neck and shoulders and I am very clean as well. Some people naturally have very oily skin too which makes getting rid of acne a big problem too.

I'm not sure if it's normal, I came here to ask the same thing or to see if anyone/everyone else has this. I'm 39. It's like every hair follicle or pore or whatever collects oil and becomes a little blackhead (or "gray-head" or "brown-head") and you can wash them and they don't go away and squeeze them and they come back. I got an anti-acne body wash to wash them with and I think it helped but then I stopped. There are a few other places I have perpetual blackheads and I don't know if it's considered gross by people like doctors or sex partners.

wearing a bra that doesn't breathe is another factor. see if you can find a cotton one you like. it's pretty normal though. try using a washcloth when showering to gently exfoliate the area a bit (don't use anything harsher than a washcloth though - that can irritate the delicate skin and actually cause real acne or rashes.)

i also found that using harsh cleansers actually makes me break out more (both blackheads and regular acne). believe it or not, dove unscented body wash is actually the best thing for keeping me from breaking out terribly.

if you're a teen or have oily skin though, you may need something a little less hydrating - clearasil makes a good everyday face wash that isn't too terribly drying. (Clearasil Daily Clear Oil-Free Daily Face Wash). it has an added moisturizer, but it isn't nearly as hydrating as the dove bodywash. i've used that on my back and chest before with good results (in the summertime, when my skin gets kind of oily).

I understand what you mean, they're not usual blackheads and they're not pimples but ones that don't really bother you and can stay there. They're a bit like large pores for the hairs in that area, I'd leave them.
