Is it normal to have an urge to grab a cops gun?
I'm not a violent person by any means. When I see a cop on the street with his/her gun in the holster all I can think about is snatching it out. Obvioulsly I don't but is this normal?

Id be the guy that grabs his gun but then hands it back immediately and goes "oops, sorry officer. Impulse! (:"
It is normal to have the urge, yeah. Having urges and acting on them isn't the same thing, obviously, otherwise most of us who voted on this would be dead.
You can do that if you are "paper spray" and "taser" resistant! and ya pain too. Its a normal FEELING not a ACT.
I like how "seven" and "hlinux" took this comment so seriously....lol wtf.
Yep, I've thought that a few times. They show their gun, and you think "It's SO wide open I can grab it from the holster!"
I think a lot of us think about doing this.I am not a daring person so for something to cross my mind like this is crazy. But it has crossed my mind GOOD thing we are smart enough not to do it.
You would be on the ground begging for mercy, as you get read your rights. You know duty holsters are specifically designed to resist that sort of ambush ?
Cops' holsters are rated on their security.. And you approaching a cop's weapon from the side, will not have the proper angle to manipulate holster security devices.
You would also lack the training/practice with that holster. In most cases, a sentry mechanism of some sort has to be pushed and held, while a second locking mechanism has to be manipulated, to pull the weapon.
That's only Level II security, and many cops may have Level III, IV, or better high-security holsters, requiring even more specific motions to draw the weapon.
do it!! they think that is sssooooo funny and then they will give you a prize!
me too... actually my parents just had the police come over to my house because they found out i smoked pot and that was all could think about
I do this too, I would never snatch the gun but I'm always like 'hmmm what if? that would be an adrenaline rush'
It's messed up that people think this is normal, do you want to get arrested?. I cop isn't going to hand you his gun even if the bullets are out and asking will probably get him in your face whether you're a large black guy or a white kid.
It's sounds like curious but guns aren't toys so if you want to "play" with guns join the military or something instead thinking about flirting with danger
I have to walk past cops repeating to my self "don't take his gun" over and over
(if the cop is female I use the right pronoun)
kids on my rez actually do that.they just take it and run as fast as they can
All I can say is DONT. You are just waiting to get smacked with a lawsuit, or much worse. If you want to see the cops gun, talk to him, but only if the situation is right, aka, he isn't buisy, or using his gun. He should remove all rounds from the gun before giving it to you, including the round that has been chambered, but after doing that, I don't see why you couldn't hold it. ALWAYS ASK FIRST! Also, don't be pushy, if he says no, it means no. It also helps if you look like a nerdy white kid, because they won't perceive you as too muche of a threat. The large black guy, with the fifty chains, baggy clothes, and the shirt that say DRUGS RULE! Isn't going to get his hands on a cops gun, EVER!!!
But yeah, it is normal.
I guess I've done kinda the same thing...anytime I'm around an officer I think, "hmm, his gun is just RIGHT THERE" and I wonder what it'd feel like to just snatch it...although I know this is dumb because obviously the cop has speed reflexes (because he probably wonders if anyone would ever dare snatch his gun) and it just wouldn't end pretty lol :)
