Is it normal to have an imaginary significant other?

So basically I created an imaginary world inside my head where GLaDOS, a character from the video game Portal, is my significant other... She has an android body and I have even gone as far as to take her onto dates (in my imagination) and even fantasized about having intercourse with her. It's been going on for around 2 years.

Note that this doesn't impact my social life. I still go out and make friends and girlfriends, and I usually just think about my imaginary friend when I'm laying in bed or bored during work. "Talking" to her in my head helps me get through hard times sometimes, so it's not all bad I guess.

And no, I'm not schizophrenic.

yeah someday they'll invent some machine you hook yourself up to that fools your senses into thinking your fucking and cuddling and a virtual reality helmet with electrodes connecting to your brain with an artificial intelligence girl you create to serve you.

It's normal to fantasize about fictional characters.

I think it's sort of normal if you don't have a real girlfriend.

No new post up so I guess this is normal. We all have imagination. Life would be boring without it

Sounds quite fun but I have to question your use of the word "significant". If she doesn't even exist, she definitely isn't significant.

'Significant other' implies not only that shes significant but also that she is another person. So technically she's deserving of neither terms since she's fictional

Well no, like I just run a little fantasy to avoid the boredom of work. In that fantasy she's my gf, not much more two it.

    Peculiar maybe but seems harmless.
