Is it normal to have an awkward aquaintance for no particular reason?

There's this guy I used to work with at my local bar and he's an alright bloke, nothing wrong with him, but we never really gelled at all, but just out of politeness and courtesy we'd always greet each other whenever we saw each other etc but everytime we did it was awkward for me and him. Sort of like when you see someone you know but you don't want them to see you but they do.
Well I don't work there anymore but I still live in the area and he still works at the bar and I run into him alllllll the time. And it's just so awkward. Its even awkward if we pretend not to see each other. I wish he didn't exist, but he does. And I just think its really strange cos its not like he's a bad bloke or anything. Is it normal?

    I feel this way about most of the parents of my kids friends. I have to see them, our kids are besties, they're really nice people, but I don't like talking to them at all.

    Cause baby let me tell you, it will go nowhere.

    Maybe next time while you're talking to him, you can pass gas really loud... Either he will run, or things will get less awkward. Ok don't do that.

    After a while of having repetitive meetings, I think it will be safe for you two to nod at each other from afar. It doesn't hurt... and who knows, one day you might need some help from him. :> Always try your odds.

      Thanks for your comment and relating but I think a first date that went no further has a good reason to be awkward. What I'm referring to between 2 people has no reason at all.

    There's a guy I hung out with once who is kinda like this.... But I have a reason why it's awkward. We made out and he kept calling.. But I never talked to him again. Now I see him at the mall and Starbucks too much and it's always so awkward that I just wanna run in the other direction lol So I can relate to the awkwardness!

    Well if he's an alright bloke, I'd say suck his dick and then see how you feel afterwards. I'm sure the awkwardness will melt right away.

    I was going to write something stupid like , "Maybe you're gay".

    There's some people I greet too just out of courtesy but sincerely I would rather have not met them at all but I don't think about them much.
