Is it normal to have a tongue as a baby?

I just saw my nephew for the first time who is 2 mo old and he is so cute!!! The only thing is, he has a tongue. Isnt this a little early? When did you get your tongues in?

I didn't get mine until I was 2 years old. I was a late bloomer.

Lucky bastard. When I was 2 months old, I barely had half a head, let alone a tongue.

The harsh reality here is that some people may never develop a tongue. I'm 27, at the end of my development, and never grew one. I wrestled with this for years (as best as I could, my legs only came in at age 14 and they're still only about half way there) but eventually had to accept the fact I was one of the rare few who just wouldn't grow a tongue.

I have my suspicions... apart from bad genetics, I think the cat might have got it...

This question and its comments are hilarious. By far some of the funniest posts I've ever seen on here. I wonder if there are other hilarious questions like this.

Normal growth is about 4 weeks, I can't believe everyone thinks babies are born with tongues!! Your nephew is obviously an exception.

Oh thank God I'm not the only one. Let's see:
I was about 3 or 4 when I finally got my tongue.
Thankfully both my legs came in at around the same time, my second year. Yeah, they were convinced I was special cause I got my walking bits earlier than everyone else.
My second arm came in about the time I started second grade, that was a relief.
I'm 19 at the moment, now I'm just waitin' for my boobs to get here, then I'll be a whole set. :)

Seriously though, I freakin' love this question. If it's serious, that just makes it all the more funnier.
