Is it normal to have a story in my head with characters that i made up?

So when I was about 7 years old I created a story about these 5 boys that were in a band together. It's been like 10 years and I still have this story stuck in my head and sometimes that's all I can think about. I don't know why but I can't forget about these characters and their stories. There are also other characters, but they're not as important. Sometimes I base my life on these characters and I want to be them. I know it's kinda weird. Some life choices have been created from these characters too, like wanting to move to California. The only reason I want to move there is that these characters in my head live there. I'm also attracted to how these characters look too like I based my type on how these characters look. so... yeah I think I'm obsessed with these characters I made.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I had no idea that other people did this. I used to come up with entire stories and cartoon concepts with episodes in my head, with commercial breaks, openings, seasons, etc. I would be sitting by myself a lot and people would think i'm bored but I would be just having fun by myself using imagination.
Maybe write it out into a book or comic or something, it could be cool to immortalize the story outside of your head.

I get stories like that ever since I was a kid, and i've also always loved to write. It's a good thing, writers get inspiration like that. It just comes to you from nowhere and then you write it down.

    Normal.

Why don't you start writing it down.

Don't think about what you are going to write; just focus on writing what you think. It can be edited later, and with others help.

Who knows... you might have the next successful story series, along the line of Tarzan, The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Little House on the Prairie, Anne of Green Gables, Harry Potter, etc.

I grew up reading the 1st 3 on the list (I know that dates me).
