Is it normal to have a runnynose 24/7?

I have a runny-nose and red eyes 24/7. It never goes away. I wake up I feel like there is milk in the back of my throat, I go to sleep its still there. I cant sleep well since when I lay down I often feel like there is 100 tons on my chest and I feel like I might die. People have made fun of me since they say when I laugh it sounds like I am choking. Me as well as most of my family have a history of asthma and respiratory problems. I was never diagnosed with asthma but I have caught bronchitis over 6 times. A few times got an inhaler for it. How do I fix this? I really hate feeling this way 24/7. I tried pills but for some reason they do nothing but make my stomach hurt. I have tried congestion/cold syrup and it is not fixing it.

If your nose runs and your feet smell, you're built upside down.
Seriously, it sounds like you have allergies. If it is year round, then it may be diet related and if not, seasonal to pollen or such.
The only way to tell is to go to a specialist and have tests done. If it is pollen, etc. related you may have to move to somewhere those irritants do not exist.
If it gets worse, it could be life threatening, so be proactive; get to a doctor.

  • My brother was a severe asthmatic, starting when he was a toddler. My mum did everything possible to make his life easier. I believe the things she did saved his life because he would have surely died if she hadn't.

These are some of the things that were a part of my brother's daily life, in addition to heavy medications:

    -no sugar
    -no dairy
    -no artificial food colourings
    -no nuts
    -no citrus
-no pets in the house; not even visiting the home of someone who had them
    -no stuffed animals
    -plastic mattress and pillow covers
-washing *all* bedding at least once a week
    -no feather bedding (e.g. duvets)
-no clutter or toys that easily collect dust
-thorough dusting of every surface once a week with a damp cloth (no feather dusters)
    -no carpets

Most of these things have to do with food allergies and controlling airborne particulates in the living space. One thing he never did that might have helped him, was use a neti-pot and an air purifier in his bedroom. Doing these sort of things may help improve your environment and reduce your suffering.

You should really see a medical doctor, if you haven't already. You can still be diagnosed with asthma, even if you've been screened cleared of it in the past.

Yes, I do think I am becoming crazier, Sweet Brownie, with each passing day. I guess the Royal Psychiatrist, isn't helping me much. And I've only been seeing him for 5 years. But my caramel lovers, help me ease the pain aaaaaaaaaaah! LOL
