Is it normal to have a positive drug test when you have never smoked?

I was recently admitted to the hospital after having thoughts of killing myself, and one of the first things that they did was to give me a drug test. I knew that I would have amphetamines in my system because I had taken one of my old ADD medications the day before because I wanted to focus. What I did not expect was for them to find THC. I have never smoked or in any way ingested marijuana or any other illicit substance(unless you count the ADD medication, which I am not sure counts because I had a prescription, but it was old). after they told me this the only thing that I could think of was that either the test was wrong or I had somehow inhaled some smoke by accident, which seemed very unlikely. Then I got transferred to another hospital and they did another drug test, which also came up positive for THC, so it seems extremely unlikely that both tests were wrong. The doctors also said that it could not have been second hand smoke, because the levels were too high. I am so confused.

    I'm not 100% on this but it makes sense. My job tells us not to use any kind of product that contains hemp because it could cause a positive drug test. Hemp is in all sorts of things, maybe you just missed it on the label.

    If you didn't smoke or ingest THC, then obviously the tests are both wrong, as unlikely as that may seem.
    Does it matter?

      It would've mattered if he'd been caught driving in Australia: it's an offence to have even the tiniest traces of THC if tested - could be from second hand smoke, a cookie eaten a week ago or a joint smoked 2 weeks before. It doesn't have to be adversely affecting your driving, just be in your system.

        Oh dear! That sounds very doobie-ous (I dun a joke i hope you like it). Make sure to put down the bong for 30 days before even thinking about getting behind the wheel of a motor vehicle because you can't be too careful that's what I always say! Once I saw on a toilet wall it said "don't drink and drive, smoke and fly" - now I know what terrible, terrible advice that is so now I come here for advice instead of the toilet wall (and my life's gone dowhill since then, win some lose some I guess). Be careful and don't let them steal your salival fluids and don't smoke the pot and drive, okay!? Bye bye Ellena kbye :) lul xxx

          Actually I don't smoke it because I have emphysema - I only eat it in homemade biscuits and unfortunately I'd have to give it up completely because where I live I need to drive a car and according to some sources cannabis can stay in the body for weeks ....... so I'll just have to take my chances.

          I nearly got caught by a drug testing bus the other day and by sheer luck the cop waved me into the other lane ..... whew!

            It's really unfair, imo. I'm pretty sure amphetamines, heroin and most things leave the body pretty quickly so if you're not high, you probably won't get caught by the test. But cannabis - well, at best you can never be sure - but at worst you can probably get caught and you might not have even eaten it that day. Crazy...
            That's lucky you didn't get caught. I've never been drug tested on the road, but you just never know...
