Is it normal to have a phobia of splinters

I have a phobia of wooden splinters. No cool latin name for it at all besides the general fear of trees. I'm fine with living trees, fire wood, refined wood but rough cut wood? FUCK THAT! I dont even want to touch untreated wood. If I have to I wear very thick gloves. Metal splinters suck more but I dont have the same level of fear I get when I put myself in a situation to even get a splinter. The spliter itself is fine, nothing tweezers dont fix.

When I was young my parents had this crappy porch and every night my mom would pull splinters out of my feet. I dont think it was every night but as I recall it was a lot of nights to the point where I dont remember much of my early years besides getting countless splinters dug out.

Idk does anyone else on here have really niche phobias? Snakes and spiders are common ones.

I have a strange apprehension towards lightning even though I know the odds of getting struck are extremely low. It's interesting how memories from your childhood seems to have given you this phobia.

Splinters are nasty, so normal to be cautious when handling wood. Wanna know what's worse? Sea urchins... Their spikes are fragile and break, so pulling one out with tweezers is almost impossible and often small parts remain and you have to wait for your body to slowly eject them, or go for surgery...

Stepped one one buried in sand in my teens, I couldn't step on that foot for over a week. Had to wait until my body pushed out the last 2 spike parts.

    • See that's why I'm cautioned when stepping through the ocean. Sea urchins why do you have to be the porcupine of the sea cucumbers!

i usually just dig em out with a knife & tweezers and git on with life

worst thing i think is when im machinin brass and the lil slivers end up in the laundry they all git captured by the fluffy cloth inside my socks

    thats real obnoxious
