Is it normal to have a motto?
I have a small motto that I say to myself when required.
" Onward and Upward, Forward not Backword."
Does anyone else?

If I have one, it's borrowed. A girl I used to love told me that a co-worker has three words tattooed on her forearm and, when things are bad, she looks down and reminds herself that they are there. Despite it all, despite tragedy, heartache, loves lost, and wars no-one wins, I find myself returning to those three words on the arm of a girl I've never met.
"It's only life."
If it helps you, then I suppose it's normal. I don't have one, but I should think about getting one.
My favorite Quote is: "Sometimes, you can be Insightful and thought-provoking, and other times, like this, you can rant and dribble on like a complete Loony".
Its from one of may favorite shows.
My personal motto is: "You should never let the sun set on tomorrow, before the sun rises today." It's actually lyrics from a song, but it still really inspires me.
My whole family has a motto as well: "Life is 20% what happens to you and 80% how you react to it."
Having a motto didn't do Julius Caesar any harm. Well, at least until he got stabbed to death.
@Dappled....I agree man, I tend to say "It is, what it is" at work a lot as I believe if you can't change something, then there's no point worrying about it. It is, what it is. :-)
Hm...one motto...one motto. Many mottos!
"The ability to deny our impulses is the very thing that makes us human"
"If it cannot conquer then it must be conquered"
"The harder roads in life are almost always the right ones"
"Although man is more easily ruled through vice his virtues are inherently stronger"
"A man will give anything to save his life"
"How a man comes into something determines how he leaves it"
"It is what it is", is something I say all the time. I don't think everybody sees it the way we do, though. It might sound too simple to some people but I like it exactly because of that. I like the implication that there are things we can't change and we just need to accept it and find our own way regardless.
If I'm worth it you'll persevere, if you persevere you're worth it
Never forgive someone who didn't care enough to be faithful in the first place.
These are mine I remember after rough relationships. I am actually composing a book of sayings...
It's not the load that kills you, its how you choose to carry it...
Gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette...
Yeah! It helps you get through the day. Mine is "he who asks a question is a fool for 5 minutes, but he who never asks is a fool forever." That helps whenever I feel stupid. :-)
