Is it normal to have a mixed opinion about taylor swift?
Taylor Swift is pretty much like the "Smoking or Non-Smoking" section of music. People either love her or hate her. Personally, I have a mixed opinion of her. I don't hate her, but she's not one of my most favorite singers out there either.
What I dislike about her is that she has way too many songs about the same thing: being dumped and getting her heart broken. Some of them are, just to name a few:
"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" (her worst song ever), "I Knew You Were Trouble", "White Horse", "Teardrops On My Guitar", "Should've Said No", "Picture To Burn", "You're Not Sorry", "Story of Us", "Forever and Always", "Highway Don't Care" (which is a Tim McGraw song, but I knew it was going to be a breakup song because Taylor sung it with him), "All Too Well", "I Almost Do", "Back To December", and "Red." Even a lot of her songs that did not chart are about lost love. Also, the music industry is still classifying her as country when she is clearly POP now.
However, I do like Taylor Swift because she is a good role model. She's not trashy and a potty-mouth like everybody else is these days, so I will give her that. Also she does have some songs that are actually very good (the few that are NOT about breakups). Some are: "Mean" (being bullied - don't like this one either, but at least it's not about a breakup), "Our Song", "Today Was A Fairytale", "Love Story", "Mine", "Sparks Fly", "Fearless", "Everything Has Changed" (being in love), "Tied Together with a Smile" (a friend with an eating disorder), "Stay Beautiful" (being positive), "The Best Day" (her mother), "Fifteen" and "Change" (life), "Never Grow Up" (growing up), "22" (hanging out with friends), and "Long Live" (her band).
That being said...is it normal to have a mixed opinion about Taylor Swift?
