Is it normal to have a love/hate relationship with wal-mart?

A lot of people hate Wal-Mart. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of them, but I do see a lot of reasons why people do. Some of them: a) Checking out is a pain because the lines are long and there are only a few open at a time, b) when you finally do find a shorter line the cashier closes it, c) they mistreat their employees (or so everybody says), d)they force smaller companies out of business, e) they don't ever clean the bathrooms, f) it's hard to get a job there because the quiz you have to take is a "pass or fail" one (and other places don't have "right-or-wrong" answers on theirs), g) parking is a pain, and h) they allow bad checks to be cashed. However, I like some of the stuff they have (like for your dorm room) and it's easier to get pictures developed there. Plus, you get bargains if you shop at Wal-Mart. I am thinking about boycotting Wal-Mart, but there are some things I like about it too. Is it normal to dislike Wal-Mart but like it at the same time?

  • I love Wal-Mart. They have the cheapest ammo, and I can crash in their parking lot when times get rough.

Personally, I don't really mind Wal-Mart. I never really buy clothes there, but thats not because I think I'm too good for those clothes. I'm just always in the section where the groceries are, or I'm by the deodorant, or picture frames, fishing supplies, picking up itunes or something like that, etc. Its really not that bad.

I can't really hate on a store. I'm kinda just like whatever. I just go wherever, get what I need, and I'm out. I mean, of course the prices sometimes are better compared to other stores, but I really don't care about what store I go to. You just can't hate on something thats not alive, you know?

Hmm, but corporate personhood makes a pretty good case for thinking of it as alive.

I think a lot of people are conflicted with these feelings - just proves that most people do think about these things and worry about their impact on it.... Most people are good people :)

My boyfriend and I love walmart. but we HATE the long lines. There's 40 registers and they only have 10 or less open at a 24/7 supercenter. They closed the self check outs and removed them cause of jerks stealing and ruining life for everyone else. So we get stuck in long lines behind people with full carts just so we can check out less than 10 items.

We usually go to the jewelry or electronics department to check out.

Love the deals and the selection, hate that the company is practically taking over the super store business. I wouldn't be surprised if places like Target disappeared over the next 10 years. Normal.
