Is it normal to have a lot of obligated debt vs devoted debt?

Devotion is when you devote completely to someone because you care. Obligated debt are things you do because you are forced to by law or set of morals.

I realized I have a lot of obligated debt but I don't think I really care about people as much as I do those I devote myself to.

I am loyal and I always will be. However there is very few I will ever devote myself to. Is it normal to be a good person out of obligation more than actual devotion? I feel like I should be more devoted but I am not. Is it normal?
