Is it normal to have a knuckle missing

I don't know when or how it happened, but my right hand;s pinkie finger knuckle is missing [where the finger connects to the hand itself]]

It still moved and works like a normal hand, its just a little off. That pinkie is about half inch shorter than the other and the fingers cannot close together like the left hand does.

You might think maybe you just cant see the knuckle/ its set in, but you can actually feel both ends of the the bones in the joint.

Its not painful, just baffeling.
Anatomy says it shouldnt really work...

Is this normal or am I breaking physics again?

  • I don't know.

I think i remember having one at one point.
I've asked and was given the best medical advise ive ever had

*showed doctor and they had a baffled look*
    "is it working?"
    "yes"
"then lets just leave it alone"

But im still very curious as to "why!?"

Maybe it just didn't grow like the other knuckles did?? That's really weird bro

Did you have surgery as a child?

I have the exact same thing your describing on my right hand pinky! It's never been painful, I've never broken it etc but there is no knuckle there. It appears shorter than the pinky on my left hand and pokes out slightly when I put all my fingers together. When I clench my fist there is just a dip where the knuckle should be.

Good to know someone else has it, but no closer to knowing why I guess!

Yep, your breaking physics again. Watch out for the agents. Theyre on to you now.

I have the exact same problem. But for me it comes in handy. I can stretch my two pinky fingers super far without pain. Oh, and it’s just fun to gross out my friends with. :)

take a look at different types of Brachydactyly maybe Type E. It could be a genetic mutation that is usually hereditary

I have the same problem with my left pinky finger. It doesn't have a knuckle and it's about an inch shorter than my other pinky. My pinky still works it just really weird and confusing.

I don't know if that is normal, but on my left hand my knuckle is missing to. I can still move it and it doesn't hurt, but I fell like it's a little odd. I am too wondering if it is normal to have my knuckle missing.

Do you get involved in a lot of fist fights??
    LOL

  • No, not that I remember or have ever been told of.

Were you born with this or did you have one at one point and it just disappeared?

I'm baffled, but I do believe you. Have you seen a doctor? Maybe, it's a skeletal or genetic condition?

      Hi,
yes I actually have the same thing as you.
I never even noticed it until my bf was playing with my hand, and he just stops and goes "where is you knuckle?"
      definitely a weird realization :)

I think you are confusing physics for bones. You're not alone, though. I once confused chemistry for lipstick.
