Is it normal to have a hard time talking on the phone?

Is it normal that I have a hard speaking on the phone.

clear and simple, I have a hard time speaking on the phone.

I just hate it, I always behave akwardly, make it as short as possible and when it's my boyfriend that I'm calling my bf I feel like him harassing him.

Talking on the phone is annoying better to catch up and meet in person. Talking in the phone gives me a headache after a while

So much yes... When i talk to people, it sounds like they're speaking through a lead barrier...

My husband hates the phone! He's self employed and won't even answer the house phone!

Cracks me up but he says the house phone is always for me. He keeps his answers to a minimum so I only call when I've something to say - never for a chat.

  • Yeah I'm not a fan of calling people too but my friends get so upset when I don't. I never call anyone new for the first time and I just don't call because I have nothing to say. I sometimes don't want to hear what they have to say to be honest. (especially if I see you everyday >:{) And because of the fact I have nothing to say...why would I bore you (AND myself) over the phone?

My thing is: If you call someone then you need to be the convo starter/provider. The person that has been called will add detailed feeback to the TOD.

Only over the phone or talking with any new person?
When we talk over the phone,we cannot see the other person only hear his or her voice so a big part of the whole communication is missing. The visual part. You cannot look at the person in the face or in the eyes so every clue, every signal you usually rely on to decide whether to say one thing or another,is just not there. That is why the awkwardness.
Example:it is easier ling over the phone than face to face.Everyone knows that. Then you must add the:potential risk of somebody listening or recording the conversation, and that just makes the whole thing more awkward.I am sort of sure you do not ALWAYS have an hard time speaking over the phone,I think your anxiety linked to phone calls,is kind of selective.

Depends who I'm talking to, its just that once there is a slight pause it gets awkward pretty quickly...
