I was wondering if it normal if you hear a song and have like a flashback to when you first heard that song. Like whenever I hear the song Ours, I think of the summer and riding my bike to my boyfriend's house.
One of my best friends does this all the time. I'm somewhat jealous because I have a terrible memory for music even though I play musical instruments and he doesn't. I guess we're all special in different ways.
Definitely! Although for me smells do it even more so! I have a really good sense of smell and occasionally I smell something that just takes me instantly back to something or someone from the past. The brain is an amazing thing!
That's the nature of memory. Your entire memory is a system of associations. You can't simply "call up" a memory out of nowhere. For something to even enter your mind at all you absolutely have to first think of something you associate with it.
