Is it normal to have a butterfly rash after taking cold medication?

I was going to work and I had a fever and was congested so I took a day time cold/flu tylenol pill (same meds as in neocitran), so there was anti-histamine medicine in the capsule I took... minutes after had a butterfly shaped rash spanning my face, sweated after my temperature dropped and my eyes were light sensitive.

To be honest this was the first time I took cold medicine [I'm 23]... my parents have always been antimeds pro immune system, but I didn't want to go to work feeling like crap and my boyfriend downs like 2-3 cups of neocitran per day that he's sick.

Is that a normal reaction? Is that why there's antihistamine in it? Or did something else cause the reaction (its not tylenol, because I've taken those before; my stomach just doesn't agree with them so I take Advil instead)

either way I think I will stick to advils, fruits/ vitamins and icecubes

It could be an allergic reaction. I found out I'm allergic to many over the counter medications because I rash when I take them. Others make my eyes gloss over. Call your pharmacist or doctor and they will help you out. You can even go to your pharmacist so they can get a better idea. They will be happy to help you, and they will know another medicine that you can take instead.
