Is it normal to have a blood clot at 16

When I was 16 I had a blood clot. It sucked. The doctors told me it was caused by a combination of the birth control pill, 2 different genetic blood disorders, being lazy and sitting at the computer all day being lazy and being a smoker. I spent a week in the hospital and afterwards had to give my self blood thinning injections twice a day for 6 months.

IIN?

i know your doctors are trying to help you, but when you get a chance try to google foods that clear blood clots. they say raw garlic is really good for something like that. but you know your body best. they say FOOD IS THE BEST MEDICINE. so, google foods that clear blood clots. you are most likely to get this type of info from a Natropathic Doctor. i also found this website for you if you are interested.

My mum had one, but she was around 43. It's very abnormal to get one at such a young age, try not to sit in one position and spot for too long!

I once had three blood clots in a row.
I was on my period and it was much heavier than usual. It was so bad that my doctor was called and she said something about if it persisted that I should come to her office. Anyway, I went to the loo and they came out. I was scared and I was told it was because I started eating soy.

I eat soy now, but I don't get blood clots ,then again I barely get my red anyway.

What the OP is talking about is completely different that period clots.

OP. How long was it before it was diagnosed? My DVT was left for 5 months in my leg and as such, the main vein is completely destroyed and the other veins had to expand to allow the blood to flow. I never experienced pain like it and although they offered a bypass with a plastic vein, it would've meant 600+ stitches from ankle to groin. Nah!!!

Smoking thickens the blood, and you need to lose weight and move about so as to pump that blood through the veins. Warfarin to thin the blood is used as rat poison! Watched an autopsy last night with an obese mother who died with a blood clot - she was only 25!

Be very careful and try to ensure you don't get another one. If it moves to the heart or the brain - you're dead!

Well, under normal circumstances, it would be highly abnormal to develop blood clots at that age, but it sounds like all of those factors created the perfect storm necessary for you to develop one.

normally your blood flows through-out your body. but when blood clots it builds up in one spot stopping the regular blood flow. It's painful and potentially fatal if not taken care of.
