My friend's got a decent beard, but he also uses a fake mustache when others are around. His facebook profile pic also features a fake mustache. I suspect him having some sort of a disease. Could you back me up? Or is it normal???
Poor guy probably can't grow a mustache and has to fake it! My guy friend can grow a mustache but no beard, which annoys him endlessly. I don't know that he's ever considered false facial hair though. I may suggest it to him now.
I think your friend is totally fine. People wear false eyelashes all the time, for instance. I would only be concerned if the fake mustache looks really crappy, like a bad toupee, and then I would gently explain to him that the look is just not working and he needs to invest in higher-quality materials.
I also wear fake mustaches on occasion (I'm a girl), but it's always just for shits and giggles. I have a ton of little cousins who love goofy stuff like that.
