Is it normal to hate your brother if he likes you?

My brother and I used to fight all the time when we were little. We absolutely hated each other. But recently, in the past 2 years, he's been nice to me.

I secretly think that he wants me to give him money once I graduate from law school. He jokes about that sometimes. He tries to be my friend but I reject him. I don't want to ever see him again after I move out.

Is this normal?

    I felt almost the exact same way w my brother. He passed away very suddenly in May at age 24 & I so wish I would of just been nice to him bc he tried being nice to me. Don't make the same mistake I did.

    Not really enough info to make a determination here but assuming what you have said is a reasonably complete overview of your situation you sound paranoid. Brothers often fight when they are younger (very normal), the fact that you have grown out of it doesn't mean he is coming up with an elaborate plot to scam you out of money, he may just genuinely want a relationship with you. Ultimately you need to decide if you have any real evidence to lead you to the conclusion he just wants money, if it is just a feeling then by all means be cautious but that's hardly grounds to reject family.

    Maybe he realized he wants to have a good relationship with you. Maybe he realize that you wont be around forever. Maybe he doesn't want you to have a messed up relationship and he matured. Why dont you try being his friend?
