i crouch down and watch my dawg eat while makin 'numnumnumcrunchcrunchcrunch' noises
he gives me the side eye but keeps eatin
No it's not normal, you should have fun with it. Go mmmmmm at how good it is and he will get hungrier.
My dog does not watch me eat. Of course i typically eat in my room.
I do not care for the sound of my dog drinking water. Slurp slop sloop sleep slip slap slurp....
Sometimes when I hear it, I start making loud slurping sounds and he will look up like, "HHHHEEEYYYYY, quit judging!"
This is common behaviourisim for pet animals. It is most likely because pets heavily associate us humans with receiving food so your pet may be awaiting the moment for you to give it to them or an opportunity for them take it themselves. Although it may be possible it will probably be hard to train out this behaviour, especially in an animal like a cat. It’s probably naturally very habitual for them aswell. They certainly aren’t judging you, well atleast not in the way us humans do anyways. I wouldn’t worry.
They have to learn that they are below you on a power level. Alphas eat first.
A few times when my dog has watched me eat she was actually drooling which both annoying and cute lol.
I really dislike dogs staring at people who are eating and for that reason I don't feed my dog scraps from my plate, in fact she goes outside while I eat dinner and then I let her in, put my plate or bowl on the floor and let her do some licky pre-cleaning for me
I love the sound of my cat drinking water, and eating his food, because it's very relaxing, and makes me feel like all is right with the world.
