Is it normal to hate when people read over me?

I absolutely hate it when people read over my shoulder. I feel like I'm going to edge something wrong and have someone point it out. My friend tends to do this all the time. If I wrote a wrong answer she'll often say "that's wrong" and it annoys me so much. Is it normal?

Agreed, when I was in school, I had a teacher that used to do this all time and I hated it. I ended telling her that I refuse to work if she keeps standing over me.

I really hate this. If I'm reading or talking, just wait until I am done.

Strangers always do this, or they sit next to me and get all close then start reading. They need to mind their own fucking business.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I tend to move to one side so it's more comfortable for them. Saves me telling them what I've read later.

  • Just watching me do work is annoying. During tests in high school, when the teacher was watching me, I would 'write' over what I had written if I couldn't think of anything else to add.

I have a math teacher that does this. I sit at the front of the class, and she will often glance at my paper. I always get real self-conscious when she does this and freeze up on whatever I am doing. I do not give any other indication that I know she is watching me though... I think she does it to get a gauge of where everyone in the class might be at. Or maybe she is just genuinely interested in watching students work math problems. She is a math teacher after all. Also, maybe she does not realize she is doing it or that she is making someone(me) nervous by doing it. I try not to let it get to me though.
