I dont hate Mexicans,but the thing I hate is when you see a group of them at a store,work,and etc.They began to speak Spanish and Im knowing DAMN well they can speak ENGLISH if their here living in the United States of America.
The United States doesn't even have an official language. Isn't the diversity part of what makes this country great?
How do you know they're living there? They could be on holiday. I don't know anyone who goes on holiday and resolves to speak to their partner or family in a foreign language the whole time.
To 96% of the world, the USA is a foreign country.
I don't mind when mexicans do this, but when Jewish people stand in the line at Starbucks speaking Spanish, damn it just really burns my bacon!
I don't mind them speaking spanish with their family and friends but when I go a job interview it pisses me off when the employer bearly speaks English and two weeks later I find out that the only 2 people who can't a lick of English got the jobs and not one native English speaker did. And it also pisses me off when they get gov. aid in 2 days and it takes months for anyone else. Well that's what I get for living in Miami, oh no wait I mean little Cuba.
They aren't allowed to claim amnesty into our country legally, they aren't allowed to live here legally even though they lived here long before us and do all the shit end jobs most Americans would refuse to do then hell yes they can speak whatever they want to. Infact knowing that such a staggering amount can speak Spanish in your country why don't you just learn it?
I know it can be frustrating and it feels like they're telling secrets, but Spanish might their first language, or maybe it's just a more comfortable language for them to speak. I do however tend to get annoyed at the ladies in nail salons. I KNOW they're talkin shit.

it IS rude when people speak a different language around others who obviously don't understand what they're saying, whether they're speaking spanish, chinese, russian, whatever.
it's also rude for americans traveling abroad to speak only english, especially in a condescending tone, to an obviously intelligent person.
Let me guess, you only speak English and you've never been outside of the US.
it doesn't bother me if foreigners speak to each other in their first language. it's just that if they live in America, they need to know at least enough to communicate. actually, there's this Mexican restaurant here, and I always talk to one of the waiters in Spanish. haha:)
Haha Dappled! But the poster is mostly right. I also have a problem with a different race. When I used to go to Walmart, an Asian person would speak over the loud speaker in their language making an announcement. Shouldn't everyone be able to understand it? They obviously live here to have that job. It's just not at Walmart.
Americans only have 2 countries at our borders. Mexico and Canada. We dont have the luxury of visiting other many countries unless we spend hours and hours on a plane or ship.
I agree with you, tori. When it's information for you, you should be able to understand it. I'd go further and say that it should be given first in the language that most people speak in that country, and so on and so on.
But if it's a private conversation, I'm actually really glad if I can't understand it. It saves me from pretending that I'm not hearing it. :)

So if you go to France or whatever with your family, you will speak French all day? Even to your family? Because that is what you are implying Mexicans should do.
If you buy, steal,invade or take the half of China, it is going to be a high possibility to have 500 to 700 millions of Chinese people, don't try to find blonde people speaking English.

Its normal to get upset because it makes me feel ignorant,but I don't get mad at them I just leave. I don't like when my bosses stepson says he wants to play basketball with me and his friends,then when I show up they all speak spanish to eachother,and not even a word to me AT ALL. That sux,but I used it as an excuse to hook up with his spanish sister now she's teaching me SPANISH!! XD
SHUT UP. This is wrong. I am English and we do the same thing in our culture. We move to Spain, form our communities and only speak in English. However, because English is our first language it makes it okay and the Spanish are rude for not learning our superior language. I hate it when I walk the streets of Spain and hear them all conversiong in Spanish.
