Is it normal to hate the sound of your voice?

I'm not talking about hearing your voice on a recording, I assume that's normal to dislike hearing a distorted version of your voice. I mostly hate the way I sound normally; like I'm a really mean person. I don't try to talk that way but it always sounds like I'm terrible.

    I sound like a stoner.
I usually sound serious when I talk. People think I'm funny and often laugh at my jokes but I think that part of the reason that they laugh is that I sound like I am serious even when what I am saying is ridiculous.

I hate my voice and pronunciation and am very self-conscious about it.

Just the sound of your voice or the words that come out? I always wish I think more before I speak.

I like my voice. I didn't like the voice post recordings because neither of them were "me" but I can't really put a third recording up because it looks like crazy vanity.

I feel the same way about mine. It isn't me in the slightest and that feels weird to me. And I don't think posting three looks like crazy vanity. Why don't you just take down one of them, since most people would have heard it, and replace it with a new one, which is more "you"?

Bah, you know what'll happen, though. If I give in to a third recording then I won't be happy with that and I'll think about a fourth. Hmm, I'll think about it. I wish I'd put something on the site to check if people were going to it because I have no idea if people still check. Unless I log in once a month, they'll close the site down. I do log in because people seemed to want the site to stay. Hmm, or maybe I should run the story again soon now we have new IINers. It certainly got a good response last time with one exception *frowns at Spacey* :P

        • I would do a new one. The one I recorded was too proper. I think we should free talk. I'd even read one of my stories or polls. (That's closer to talking normally than a quote from someone else's mind.) I laugh about every ten seconds in real life. Haha. Which is why I'm always typing 'hehe', 'haha', 'heh!' all the time...lol. ;P

I think you should do a freestyle one:D! I agree that just talking freely is much closer to how we actually talk than reading someone else's words. I wanted to do a freestyle one, but I'm a wimp and I don't feel comfortable enough with you guys for you to hear me babbling on like a fool. I wish the one I have up on the site wasn't there either. I'd like to hear more freestyle ones, though:).
