Is it normal to hate the look of most prom dresses

Especially the big pink poofy ones. A lot just make me sick. I can't stand to be in a room with layers upon layers of nasty cheap material that looks and sounds plastic. and why do people feel the need to have thousands of *sparkly* gems on the dress to make it look 'speshul' and 'orginul' (purposly spelt wrong). I've looked at hundreds of prom dresses on different sites they've made me feel sick.

I've seen dresses that looked like someone broke a disco ball and just glued the shards to a shit dress. I don't blame you, today's prom dresses mainly suck

That's because the stores[online as well] that you shopped at carry damn generic dresses that appeal to the tasteless masses...Try Promgirl.com, I found a beautiful[but slightly pricey] dress there.Good luck!

lol I know what you mean. I hate fat dresses with the poofy sleeves. They make me want to puke.

  • Well what the ff kinda dress do you want then. Why don't you design and make your own dresss

  • I know what you mean, most prom dresses are all layer upon layer of chiffon and endless ploofy material.

Just take some time to look around for what you really want, I managed to get a dress that was perfect for me without making me look like a reject barbie, although that was 5 years ago now.

As bronte says, try vintage stoeres or getting your dress made. Either that or find an ordinary party dress and customize it (if you can) into what you want.

    Good luck! :D

Yes, that is completely normal. It means that unlike most people, you actually have taste! Maybe you could try getting your dress custom made? Or maybe go to some vintage stores and find something really quirky and original if that's your style? I remember going to a lot of effort to make sure I looked interesting but tasteful for my prom. Good luck! I'm sure you will look stunning!

Same here. They look like a 7 year olds' Halloween costume. I only like the way a few of them look. And i hate how some girls try to make their dress overly sexy.
