Is it normal to hate seeing myself in a mirror?

It not that I think I'm ugly. I think my perception of I think I look vs how I actually look is completely different. For example, I'm naturally thin but when I see myself in especially public mirrors everything looks distorted to me. I look like a loser even when I feel confident!

Depends on the mirror. I look great in my bathroom mirror but not as great in a mirror in a place I go to. It's not actually the mirror itself, though, but the room. I'm thinking of doing all socialising in my bathroom from now on.

I looked into my bathroom mirror and laughed for five minutes. I’m odd and a bit childish.

I think I look great in my mirrors at home. I almost broke down in the fitting room while looking at myself in that mirror.

That's good to know. Because I saw myself in a restaurant mirror and almost cried! I refused to believe my neck is that long!

  • I agree with dappled. It all depends on the lightning of the room etc.

Well, I feel like how you see yourself in the mirror is not how others see you. But, you should probably get used to seeing yourself in the mirror because you will see yourself in it every day for the rest of your life. I mean, it could be harmful if everyday when you get up in the morning and walk to the bathroom you suddenly get pissed off from seeing your image in the mirror.

Anyways, I think its normal to be suprised or feel some degree of anger or even satisfaction upon looking at yourself in a mirror.
