Is it normal to hate seeing african americans trample civil rights?
I come from a long line of proud African-Americans who were dedicated to equality and civil rights. My Grandfather worked with Martin Luther King Jr. and played an active role in the movement, my father was the first in our family to get a college degree and he was a ranking officer in the United States Navy and I am currently going to college on a scholarship to get a degree in Biology and study life sciences.
My family moved into a nice-sized house in a nice neighborhood over 20 years ago before my Father and Mother were hit by a drunk driver. My Father passed away and my Mother became severely disabled. The accident left our family in a bad situation but we still had each other. Slowly, over the course of these past 2 decades, our neighborhood has become a virtual GHETTO. It has been overrun by gang-bangers and thugs and people that make me very very... I don't know, sad?
I grew up listening to my Grandfathers stories of facing adversity and being shown scars from beatings that he got by people who wanted to silence him. KNOWING all of the struggles that people, both black and white, went through to attain the right to go to college, to work decent jobs, to own nice homes and everything, seeing these people just trampling everything that my ancestors and many others fought for disgusts me. They are throwing all of their rights and abilities down the drain and they blame white people and call them the enemy when the only enemy is their own laziness and selfishness and their stupidity that fuels modern day racism.
Is it normal to feel this way about many African Americans?
