Is it normal to hate seeing african americans trample civil rights?

I come from a long line of proud African-Americans who were dedicated to equality and civil rights. My Grandfather worked with Martin Luther King Jr. and played an active role in the movement, my father was the first in our family to get a college degree and he was a ranking officer in the United States Navy and I am currently going to college on a scholarship to get a degree in Biology and study life sciences.

My family moved into a nice-sized house in a nice neighborhood over 20 years ago before my Father and Mother were hit by a drunk driver. My Father passed away and my Mother became severely disabled. The accident left our family in a bad situation but we still had each other. Slowly, over the course of these past 2 decades, our neighborhood has become a virtual GHETTO. It has been overrun by gang-bangers and thugs and people that make me very very... I don't know, sad?

I grew up listening to my Grandfathers stories of facing adversity and being shown scars from beatings that he got by people who wanted to silence him. KNOWING all of the struggles that people, both black and white, went through to attain the right to go to college, to work decent jobs, to own nice homes and everything, seeing these people just trampling everything that my ancestors and many others fought for disgusts me. They are throwing all of their rights and abilities down the drain and they blame white people and call them the enemy when the only enemy is their own laziness and selfishness and their stupidity that fuels modern day racism.

Is it normal to feel this way about many African Americans?

You just don't get it. They're gang bangers and thugs because despite gaining equality, the system that keeps them poor still exists. Yes civil rights has leveled the playing field, but to many of the people you're talking about that doesn't matter. It has nothing to do with the color of their skin, simply the fact that they weren't among the lucky ones who were able to pull themselves out of their poverty.

People who are in lower earning brackets generally have bad parenting at home or parents who just don't care that much. They tend to go to worse schools where teachers don't care and their education suffers. They oftentimes have to start working before graduating high school to care for their families, because many people in low earning brackets aren't very educated about sex and protection, especially if you're talking back generations to where there wasn't sex education in primary school. Depending on what part of the country you live in, you're still not getting sex education in school, just some stupid christian rhetoric about abstinence.

And finally, of course, low income individuals usually don't go to college. Hell, I can barely afford to stay in college with my parents help. (Trying not to put myself in too much loan debt forever)

Sources? I'm in school for psychology and we literally just covered the chapter on diversity in Educational Psych.

No, it does not in any way exist. "The System" actually helps blacks more than whites now, what with their college grants, college loans, affirmative action etc.

" It has nothing to do with the color of their skin, simply the fact that they weren't among the lucky ones who were able to pull themselves out of their poverty."

Then explain how my white friends who grew up in Detroit got out fine and went to college, where the blacks I knew decided to stay in Detroit to deal drugs. I suppose those multiple occasions are all just coincidence....

"People who are in lower earning brackets generally have bad parenting at home or parents who just don't care that much. They tend to go to worse schools where teachers don't care and their education suffers. "

So all of your teachers are 100% responsible for your actions as an adult?

"And finally, of course, low income individuals usually don't go to college. Hell, I can barely afford to stay in college with my parents help. (Trying not to put myself in too much loan debt forever)"

I'm very low income, and I owe nothing and I go to college full time. It's called being responsible with your money, like a big boy.

"Sources? I'm in school for psychology and we literally just covered the chapter on diversity in Educational Psych."

Oh, did they cover the part about the educational benefits that are exclusively for blacks? Funny, I went to war, saw my friends die, almost died myself to get my college benefits, but I'm glad some random joe gets better college than me because he happens to be black and I'm white. That's not racist at all, right?

I never generally pick posts apart, but I made an exception for yours. Here is the real shocker, I know it may come as some crazy idea to you but here it goes:

BLACK people are to blame for THEIR OWN PROBLEMS. Not the white man, not the oppressive system, not the government and not anyone else. Their problems are their own and as a white man I wont be blamed for everyone elses problems simply because the color of my skin, you anti-white racist piece of shit.

Next time you bitch, remember who GAVe them civil rights, remember who FREED the from slavery, remember who GAVE them the rights to vote. That's right, it was the big bad white man.

Yeah sorry, I don't have that much time to debate issues on race with a Nazi. That was a fucking novel. Hitler rounded up the blacks too, didn't he?

  • Nothing matters, treat blacks or whites however you want. We'll all be dead in decades to come, and without punishment for "wrong doing".

Fuck everyone who is black and fuck everyone who is white, you're all nothing but moving objects in my eyes.

The race baiters out there- everyone knows who they are- have made careers out of keeping it stirred up. Its also a tool used by govt so that we keep bickering among ourselves and ignore them raiding the US Treasury.

my dad and I were talking to an older black man who felt the same way, when we were working (flooring installers) in an almost all-black lower income neghborhood. As he was talking to us, he suddenly pulls out his shotgun and yells "git young blood!" and "dont make me shoot you now!" well, apparently, some kids were getting ready to steal the tools from the back of my dads van. He then goes to tell us about how this used to be a much nicer neighborhood when he moved in 30 years ago, and now these neighborhoods are nothing but crime and drugs, and that a white person in this area now is more likely to be a victim.

Everyone has a different opinion of a " good life"
    - the system does not make it easy for kids that have not a chance in hell ( eg: abuse, neglect, mental health problems etc). They grow up only knowing that life and how to survive that life. People that had and now do not have a different opinion/outlook on what life owes them
    - your life might be viewed by another as pointless, crappy and they might even ask themselves " wtf is wrong - go out and get a better job"
My point is, without a full, true understanding of what it is like to live in someone else's shoes from childhood it seems pointless to impose judgement

No. It's normal for them to do what works best for them regardless of the consequences to others.

To the Op I agree. Also I will say that the youth of today are lazy and blame everything that happens on someone else.

Yes if you happen to have a bad teacher they have some responsibility in issues but not the color of your skin. Leave the color of your skin out of it. Most people do not care what color you are anymore.

These racist stereotypes that say all Mexicans must know Spanish and eat tacos and that all blacks must be ghetto and rap is what is creating racism. Not all white people are rich.

You are the ones isolating the good people in your race by saying they do not fit the stereotype. Well Fuck the stereotypes just be good people.
