Is it normal to hate rude people?

People are rude for all sorts of reasons; some of them might even be acceptable. I don't like bullies, people who laugh at another's pain, people who respond ignorantly trying to make a joke when something really isn't a joke, or just random insults for no reason. I think this is the kind of person you mean. I'm not sure they should be shot but I've long thought that people who are capable of giving to society and yet refuse to, shouldn't receive the privileges of that society. They should go off and make their own electricity, purify their own water, make their own TV shows, design their own internet, build their own house, and all the other million things we take for granted but which someone actually has to do for us. If, in return, we use those things just to spread our hatred, we are contributing to the failure of that society.

However, it's also the role of everyone else in society to keep these people informed of what is expected of them. Sometimes that takes bluntness, sometimes clever coercion, and sometimes it takes rudeness. It takes a lot to render me entirely vicious but I've done it once on IIN and once in real life in the past few years.

Nobody likes rude people, but unfortunately there will be rude people almost everywhere, especially on the internet. Hopefully whoever is left a nasty comment doesn't take it to heart. The person who's dumb enough to leave something so insensitive is probably just trolling simply because they're anonymous. They're just weak people who get off leaving nasty comments that they know they would never be able to say out in the real public, because if they ever had the audacity to say it, they'd probably get their asses kicked! Cowards. They're nothing but cowards hiding behind a computer screen.

I have to agree, it really burns me up when people are rude and vulgar. I often wonder what they are like in real life, sure am glad I dont have to call them "Dad" :)

Anyone can be rude! You too, even when you don't realize it! It's just human nature!

Good comments people. Most appreciated. I was really stressed out at the time I posted this. Some idiot had called me an idiot. I guess I was just in the wrong mood, as ordinarily I would have just shrugged it off and put it down to ignorance. But often I see rude comments on other people's threads and it really irritates me that some can seem so crass and stupid for no other reason than they are able to get away with it, due to anonymity. At the time I was browned off about being called an idiot, I did not see the report button, or most assuredly that person would have been reported pronto. I felt it was uncalled for. Okay, so 'the hit dog hollers'. Maybe I am a bit of an idiot, but I have as much right to my opinions as that other idiot who called me one. Doggone it.

Personally I know sometimes I respond nicely and sometimes very sarcastically...and i think that is based on mood so if someone is only being rude sometimes they may be having a crappy day and let loose on this forum. People are different and whilst you can't expect everyone to behave like you or exhibit your manners etc, you just have to accept that these are things we cannot entirely eliminate. I wish people used their brains more and constructed and conversed in intellectual discussions not "I'm a straight male but wanna suck my best mate" etc etc... Get what I mean? Lol

No need to go around shooting people there's a Report button for every comment.

It depends on what you consider rude.... and whether or not they're actually breaking the TOS.

I mean I've seen some who cry "rude!" when you do things like....
- dare to disagree with their INN questions
- give them the truth instead of sugar-coating it
- point out that they themselves are acting worse than the people they're complaining about.

so it all depends on what you call rude and what those particular posters said that made you want to have them banned from the site.

90% of the people would be gone if they would ban over rude comments. Can't do much about it. I'm sorry I'm rude sometimes though.

Sometimes rude comments are warranted ie. IIN that I don't wipe my butt? Is just begging to be ragged on, but when it's someone who's lost a loved one or pet, my blood boils when I see rude comments >:-(
