Is it normal to hate realtors?

I hate Realtors.

Realtors are the most self serving dishonest useless 'profession' I've ever encountered.

Before the internet people needed Realtors. Otherwise you were stuck with classified newpaper ads and yard signs. Back then they served some kind of purpose. Today they’ve been reduced to nothing but a list (MLS).

Now let me tell you how I really feel about Realtors. Realtors are near obsolete lying worthless useless self rationalizing crooks! Not to mention the profession is a dime a dozen. ANYONE can get a Real Estate license.

REALTORS ARE CHEERLEADERS. You don't need a Realtor to buy or sell a house. Realtors were the retail pushers of the housing bubble and foreclosure crises which has taken the United States to the brink of bankruptcy. Realtors produce nothing. In GENERAL Realtors are extremely arrogant. Realtors constantly pretend that you need them. Their smug arrogance says “You need me. I don’t need you. I have the keys to your house”. I hate this profession with a passion! Let me tell all the Realtors reading this page something:

1) Your NOT Doctors
2) Your NOT Lawyers
3) Your NOT Financiers
4) Your NOT High Powered Investors.

YOUR JUST ANOTHER GODDAMN REALTOR!

When someone tells me they are a ‘Realtor’ I instantly lose respect for them.

REALTORS ARE SCUM. Why did the average person depend and trust in these so called 'professionals' to provide them transparent, unbiased and correct information in all aspects of the housing process? How can Realtors look at themselves in the mirror knowing they are nothing more than professional liars and cheerleaders who facilitated this foreclosure mess and debt crises our country now faces? How can someone have a CONSCIENCE knowing they intentionally pushed a grossly overpriced houses on family’s knowing full well they could not afford the payments in 10 months and would be kicked out? Not everyone was a speculator or betting the market would go up. Most people just wanted a home for their families! How can you live with yourself knowing what you did? You lied and self rationalized to GET YOUR 6% COMMISSION.

The NAR has even tried to push censoring county property websites and Zillow to gain selective discloser advantage. Real Estate has got to be the only business I know where the buyer can SEE the entire sales history of the property/house at the county records website and Zillow.

As I said the only card Realtors have left to play is the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). When that is eroded away by discount brokers and integrated FSBO websites, Realtors will surely go the way of the travel agent. Buyers and sellers worried about paperwork can take confidence in the fact these procedures can be completed yourself at a fraction of the cost by a Real Estate Attorney. A Real Estate Attorney is more knowledgable and will do a better job than a Realtor at a FRACTION OF THE COST. And unlike a Realtor, the attorney truly does work in your best interest.

I've noticed throughout the years that most realtors are a bit on the stupid side. I've seen one use a calculator to multiply 5 by 10. On another occasion, two realtors came for a class presentation amd mutually agreed that butterflies were a "species of mosquito". I understand how you feel.

Holy crow what a RANT! You are bitter and enraged, I imagine you must have had some type of deeply traumatic experience with a Realtor? What the hell happened? Sorry, but NOT MORMAL. And as far as the mortage falling through, it is the BANK'S responsibility to determine if someone can afford it. ANYONE can walk off the street saying they want to buy a house, a realtor is not allowed to run background checks and credit score reports. They usually know next to nothing about the person's fianances, other than they were approved for a mortgage.

No. Not mortgage loan officers - Realtors. And I will never, ever, under any circumstances use a Realtor to buy or sell a house.

There is a fantastic 60 minutes segment which shows a young couple who refused to use a Realtor and reports on Realtors:

      http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=2796105n&tag=related;photovideo

Pay close attention to newlyweds response when asked what they had to do.

      1) Listing their home.
      2) Printing and putting up flyer's.
      3) Hosting open house themselves.

Now compare this what they would have spent on a Realtor - $26,000.00.

Next. Take a look at the ARROGANT Realtor Debra Arends on 60 minutes and watch a typical example of a Realtor's "high touch" service. Hosting a simple an open house and answering information you can find yourself online in seconds.

    The poster is 100% correct.

I just got off the phone with a Realtor.

House un-sold 7 years. Realtor insists house is "priced to sell".

Buyers have all the information online. Why are Realtors still here? They don't service any purpose except to insult everyone's intelligence. They should have evolved into Property Managers by now.

They get a 3% commission... for what? Listing a house on the MLS then sitting back waiting for the phone to ring? These parasites do NOTHING to justify this commission.

On a $800,000.00 mortgage I'm giving these parasitic slime balls $24,000.00 in CASH. As a buyers commission or being forced to overpay to the seller to cover the cost.

And by the time I pay back the entire 30 year loan to the bank... the Realtor will have cost me $72,000+++

Yes they "only" get $24,000.00 cash. But I'm paying $72,000.00 over 30 years.

FOR WHAT?????????? What I am getting for this huge expense?????? A listing on the MLS???????

These guys have got to go !!!!

You are so right. They wanted to get the most for their commission so keep saying property value is up and keep raising it till it burst. They are the ones that come out to your property and tell you what you can sell for. I have sold many houses myself, but today people are scared of the individual selling the house think they are dishonest so they go to a realtor. These people list the house and most of time when you call don't even remember the house or know where it is and set a sign in your front yard and wait. I know they say they advertise but they are suppose to be the professionals that know where to find buyers for these homes. I have had some even tell me when looking at a house no you don't want this one, close to train, hwy or something not good about the house. They are our friends, RIGHT. I would much rather buy from an individual than a realtor as they know more about the house than that realtor who is making $10,000 or more on your loss. And they always list high then come back and say well not getting anything so "WE" need to lower the price yeh right they are still getting their big money for a sign in the yard. Come on people lets get rid of them now. not hundred years from now. Don't know how some got a license to drive.

Realtors are nothing but needless and unnecessary parasites that get far too much for doing close to nothing. They mislead people trying to create the impression that they are determinant and necessary in the path towards home ownership and lock them into stupid contracts and terms that basically limit their choices and options. They thrived during the house bubble and now with the large quantity of distressed houses owned by the bank since such houses are considered non-performing assets for the banks (the banks are not in the real state dealings), guess who will sell such houses?
