Is it normal to hate people on facebook

Everytime i get on facebook, it seems to me a huge popularity competition. People posting statuses like we really care, and girls putting up pictures to get compliments, and then the radndom annoying optomistic girl with inspirational talk. is it normal that i think it all seems like comeplete bull? Or am i just ranting?

Nearly everything is a popularity contest these days. I'm not sure why we all became so insecure and in need of validation from people we barely even know.

What's weird is that, at the same time as that insecurity, people seem to have a huge sense of entitlement with no consideration given whatsoever to others. It just seems to be "But I'm [insert name here]. Of course I should get what I want".

It's odd how it dovetails with the insecurity, despite it being the opposite thing.

Amen^^ I think its because of the self esteem movement. People nowadays are misinterpreting affirmantions and self improvement to inflate their egos. it just makes people narcissistic. its really backwards

I'd never really thought of it but there's something in that. It starts early, too. Where I live, school sports days for five and six years olds no longer have winners and losers. Everybody wins something regardless of how much talent they have, how much effort they put in, regardless of anything at all.

It sounds nice that everyone's a winner, but it sends out entirely the wrong message regarding entitlement. It suggests you don't have to work at anything and that you deserve things just by dint of existing. And if you don't get those things, you've somehow been wronged (even if it's your own fault).

This is why I like you. Because you say things like this. You inadvertently won the popularity contest.

  • A contest you talk of all websites.

  • I sign on to Facebook to see nothing but soppy, poor me, women deserve this and that, BS.
I only have a few people on my page, like twenty. In all honesty, I didn't want that number going that high and plan on deleting people so I only have ten or so.

I hate soppy things on there, and the "compliment me" game.

The only thing we can do is banish girls from Facebook! Lol.

I know a random girl with nothing but inspirational talk. She always seemed like a very miserable person in real life though. I have a Facebook. I like re-posting pictures since I find them funny and usually memes and jokes about shows I like. I also post my own artwork. I do not have one single picture of myself on Facebook either. Everyone I freinded eventually figures out who I am though. Also Most websites are a popularity contests. I do not think FB is one though. I mean FB you only add your freinds. Unless you are one of those people who adds a hundred random people you just want to communicate with friends and family.

That's exactly how all my family and friends are on facebook. Except they all bash each other via FaceBook status. It's why I hardly use it anymore.
